Sign Up Process

Once you’ve registered, you will be invited to upload a photo that the Grindr app support team will need to approve. Once your photo is approved, the Grindr app team will then request further information to verify your age, birthday, gender, and identity before using the app.

Profile Creation

Once you have had your photo and information approved by the Grindr app support team, you can get into a profile building mode. It is quick and easy to build a profile as there are few sections to fill in – however, most fields are not mandatory, and you can skip them and/or edit them later on.

You can only upload one photo at a time to the app, and the about me section must also be filled out. You can – if you wish – fill in the following sections too: age, height, weight, body type, ethnicity, relationship status, position, ‘My Tribes’, and ‘I’m Looking For’.

Matchmaking

Unlike most gay dating sites, there is no search option to match with other members, and instead, users are matched with local profiles that have things in common. Users who match can contact each other freely on the site, while it is also possible to message people you haven’t matched with on the site – even with a free account. Members can also send Taps or flames to one another to indicate their interest and encourage a conversation.

Contact Other Users

The Grindr app offers two different ways to contact other members on the site, including sending messages – using their unique gaymojis – and using taps. Taps are often the most common way to say hello on the site, as you’re not required to start a conversation – but you can still let other users know you’re interested in them. Basic and free membership still allows you to message people in the same country as you for free.
